Actually the real key is to snare both & then kill the guy on the left first, the guy running up a steep path.
If you rush them you get a few seconds "free" before they start running, time you should spend snaring and knocking them down.
With crippled condition you have about 5 seconds to kill the guy on the left before he alerts his friends, while you have probably 15 seconds to kill the other. Just don't let his snare run out.
Knockdown will give you more time to kill him, so it helps immensely.

Bring Ice prison on two heroes, and bring no fire damage. Just did it yesterday on my mesmer. Livia had it at 4 spec and Olias had it at 5-6 spec. Worked like a charm.

I brought in a typical Icy Shackles Snare Ele on my Hero (pretty much the same standardt Icy Shackles GvG Ele). My Crip Slash War was no different. Bulls Strike helped. A lot. I locked the left runner on my Ele, and killed the right myself.

I had the same difficulty doing this in HM with H/H.
The problem is not targetting some heros to one runner and taking on the other runner yourself, but is is to Keep your heros on the other target while you yourself start pounding on the other runner.
Several times I found my hero's breaking from their target before he was dead and joining me in fighting 'my' runner even though they were specifically targeted to the other runner using their skill bar crosshair.
This problem is easiest solved with having minimally two real people in your party, which I ended up with but as I understand from OP this is not an option.

Back when I did this In HM I used Shadow prison sins and some water hexes.

Any hints on how to do this with a ranger? Tried going as Cripshot, three times, when I could kill one either the bugs were aggroed or the other one escapped...
No EotN so I can't use YMLaD!

Alf: If you've got You Move Like A Dwarf! and Headbutt, bring them. Any knockdown skill, e.g. You're All Alone! is valuable. Bring at least one ele with long-lasting AoE snares, Cripple alone isn't enough.
Basically it's the only hard part of the mission, so design your whole team for just this one encounter with knockdowns and snares galore. And kill the leftmost guy first.

the problem with using a warrior with a d-slash/headbutt knockdown chain is the runners use stances. You need to make sure you wild blow their stance before trying the KD chain/d-slash spam.
Shall I suggest an ele hero or two with iron mist, and a shocking weapon on all your damage-dealing heroes? The two eles can be air spikers or just dual-element to better deal with the rest of the mobs. By the time Iron Mist runs out...they'll be dead...and you just can't beat the 90% slower speed. Hell, one hero with lightning orb/hammer/shellshock can probably kill each one without the rest of the party having to do anything.
